Heavy weight red rosin paper is an excellent moisture barrier making. Just like the old days of felt paper on exterior walls and even today on standard roofing it does not prevent mositure since when i think prevent i thinnk 100 but it will slow it down quite a bit so imo something is better than nothing and rosin paper does little other than to say you put somthing down. Red rosin paper is a high quality single ply sheathing paper which is widely used in built up roofing systems as a first layer protective barrier.
